St. Louis Blues forward Ivan Barbashev has been suspended by the NHL, ahead of game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals, after a completely legal hit on Boston Bruins forward Marcus Johansson, adding to the shit-tsunami of problems brewing against the NHL – problems that are ruining the NHL!

CAN YOU SAY PAYBACK? Boston Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy did a lot of whining and made a lot of nasty comments about the officiating in the Stanley Cup Finals after Boston Bruins Forward Noel Acciari took a huge dive in game 5 to try and draw a penalty – but failed – and then sat there and watched the Blues score.

And now the NHL has responded to the whining by Boston Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy, incorrectly, in a big way, to help the Bruins out with their hurt feelings, and to help them have a better chance of winning game 6.

Barbashev’s hit on Johansson wasn’t even called a penalty on the ice, because it was a legal hit. But the NHL had to do SOMETHING to try and appease Bruce Cassidy.

With the many glaring problems the NHL is facing, they are starting to look like a complete fucking joke though – that’s for fucking sure!

No-calls, horrible calls, stupid replay rules, hand passes that decide a Stanley Cup overtime game, “player safety” rules that make it impossible to play aggressively, or to even give a legal hit anymore without the threat of suspension – and countless other problems.

Where the fuck is the NHL on the play with 2 minutes left in the 3rd period of game 5, where Boston Bruins Defenseman Charlie McAvoy crashed into the goal, and did a body slam on the neck of St Louis Blues Goalie Jordan Binnington, in an obvious attempt to try and hurt him? THAT WAS FUCKING EGREGIOUS!

Watch that replay very carefully, and you will see that McAvoy was not pushed into the goalie and made an adjustment as he fell in order to land on the neck of the Blues Goalie – and there should have at least been three penalties called on the Boston Bruins for that play.

• A Boston player slashed the goalie stick out of Jordan Binnington’s hands, which is goalie interference.
• St Louis Blues Defenseman Carl Gunnarsson was knocked down from behind by Boston Bruins Defenseman Charlie McAvoy, which is a minor penalty.
• But then Charlie McAvoy does a Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka leap and body slam on Blues Goalie Jordan Binnington’s neck, which should AT LEAST be a penalty – a game misconduct could have been called if the referees were doing their jobs, and another suspension for Charlie McAvoy IF the NHL is serious about “protecting players”.

It used to be that hits were legal unless you went for the head – which Barbashev did not. Barbashev went in for a shoulder to shoulder hit, and if Marcus Johansson’s fragile head was touched, then that is a byproduct of a good body check, and is 100% legal.

Honestly though, what the fuck has happened to the NHL?? The NHL has turned into a league of pussies, who can’t take a shoulder to shoulder hit without their coach crying about “head-to-head-” contact. Waaaaa!

It is complete fucking bullshit that the NHL would SUSPEND a player, during the Stanley Cup Finals, over a legal body check that looked perfect to me – even in ultra slow-mo.

I hope the St Louis Blues replace Barbashev with someone even MORE aggressive, who will check the living fuck out of the Bruins players at every possible opportunity.

The Bruins are a dirty fucking hockey club, so the St Louis Blues have to be just as dirty and grind these fuckers into the ground. No mercy for hurt Bruins players – slam then twice as hard!
