I’m completely disgusted with Major League Baseball, and how they have not only fully embraced the gambling on the sport of baseball by fans, but are taking money from the gambling companies to sponsor parts of the game.
I find it almost comical how MLB dickheads have kept Pete Rose in perpetual suspension over gambling that he did over 26 years ago, but then will turn around and become business partners with the gambling companies.
Personally, I love the sport of baseball, but I am on the verge of starting a backlash and boycott of the MLB, because I find this hypocrisy in the MLB completely unacceptable.
I don’t like the gambling companies being involved with the other sports leagues, like the NFL, NBA, and others, but it was only Major League Baseball that took such a harsh stance for 25 years, towards Pete Rose – one of the best ambassadors for baseball, so their connection with the gambling companies definitely rubs many people the wrong way.
Personally, If I’m watching something MLB related, and see an advertisement for a gambling company, I turn the station immediately, and don’t come back.
MLB fans need to stand up for the sport and for Pete Rose, and tell MLB that if they want to be business partners with gambling companies, the least they could do is to reinstate Pete Rose, and possibly even apologize to Rose for the 26 year “Fuck You” that he didn’t deserve.
Daily fantasy sports operator DraftKings has come to terms on a multi-year deal with Major League Baseball, which extends DraftKings’ existing partnership and makes it MLB’s “Official Daily Fantasy Game.” The agreement allows DraftKings to offer co-branded MLB daily fantasy games and extend its participation with MLB clubs to offer market-specific in-ballpark experiences.
The joint release from MLB and DraftKings says the deal marks the “most comprehensive league partnership in daily fantasy sports history.” Critics may suggest that the National Basketball Association’s 4-year arrangement with daily fantasy sports operator FanDuel is more grandiose since it includes the NBA actually investing in FanDuel; however, a recent report that has now been confirmed reveals that the MLB’s relationship with DraftKings contains similar terms.
According to a Washington Post article from last week, MLB became the first league to enter the daily fantasy business when it purchased a small stake in DraftKings back in 2013. The details of such a purchase have not been made public, but any equity owned by MLB adds clarity to the extension of an existing partnership with DraftKings. Earlier today, MLB confirmed to me that it did indeed make an investment in DraftKings 2 years ago.
FanDuel is the exclusive provider of daily fantasy sports through the NBA and now DraftKings’ deal with MLB makes it the league’s official daily fantasy game. The MLB will also promote DraftKings across its media properties and name DraftKings an official sponsor of All-Star Week as well as select Postseason events.
