HEY TIM MCCARVER, PUT A SOCK IN IT!

PUT-A-SOCK-IN-IT-MCCARVER2I have to start by saying that I like Tim McCarver.

I like having all of the former players around Busch  stadium, especially Hall of Fame baseball players like Red Schoendienst, Lou Brock, Ozzie Smith, Tim McCarver, and Stan (The Man) Musial before he died.

I’m glad McCarver is still around the Cardinals organization, but he seriously needs to think about changing the way he adds his color to the game, and shut the hell up once in a while, unless he has something INTERESTING, NOT OBVIOUS, AND ABOUT THE GAME AT HAND to talk about.

I get it – he loves baseball – but every second of the game doesn’t HAVE to be filled with talking, stupid statements or stories about the past, himself, himself in the past, or something that is completely obvious just to be talking.

Baseball fans watching the game on TV would like to have an experience closer to what they would have at the stadium, where they hear the crowd and the sounds of the game.

We don’t need to hear McCarver talk about crap that has nothing really to do with the game we are watching, like something he did back in 1963, or something so obvious that he must think we are all stupid.

If he can’t sit out a few plays and give the viewers a break from his monotonous speaking, he should probably just go ahead and retire from the TV booth..

I have actually tried watching the game on TV with the sound down, and tuning my radio to KMOK for the audio, but the sound delay is annoying. There is a TV delay radio though, called “SportSync” that adds 16 Seconds of audio delay, and will let you match up the radio sound with the TV picture.

This is an option I plan on trying so maybe then I can finally start enjoying the games again like I used to before McCarver “retired” from doing games with Joe Buck, and back to the Cardinals..

The Cardinals should have all of the former players come in and sit in the booth for an inning or two a game, and just tell Cardinals stories, and talk about whatever they want.  That would be an interesting way to let Cardinals fans hear baseball stories from Cardinals greats, but it wouldn’t be a game-long thing as it is now.

I have a little advice for Tim. Keep your comments about the game and about whats taking place on the field, instead of talking about crap from the past which you might find amusing, but the rest of is do not. Silence is golden in some circumstances, and I’d say that this is one of them.
