Conservatives Need to Cut Ties With SunTrust Banks Despite Self-Preserving Turnaround

SunTrust Banks had decided to cut ties with real estate entrepreneurs David and Jason Benham due to their stance on gay marriage and abortion. Only after starting to feel the heat from their conservative customers did SunTrust Banks decide to reverse their decision.

SunTrust Banks didn’t change their mind out of the need to do the right thing. Just the opposite. SunTrust reversed their decision to save the bank from further backlash, and try and prevent the bank from losing money, plain and simple.

After an uproar from conservative customers, SunTrust Banks announced Friday afternoon that the decision to end its relationship with real estate entrepreneurs David and Jason Benham had been reversed.

Earlier Friday, The Daily Caller reported that SunTrust Banks had pulled all of its listed properties with the Benham brothers’ bank-owned property business.
