An iPhone6 was taken away from a young high school girl while attending Northeast High School, in Philadelphia, and the school’s so-called “policy” seems to be that they will confiscate the smart phone, but will replace it with a crappy flip phone.
I can see confiscating the phone for the school day, but as soon as the parent walks in and asks for their expensive property back, the phone should have been immediately handed over to the father. Period.
Linda M. Carroll, the principal of Northeast High School in Philadelphia, told the father of the student that she makes up the rules, and that it was their policy that the father of the student cannot get the phone back for “a few weeks”.
For someone who claims to have 5 degrees, she is pretty fucking stupid!!
Why the hell would the school need the student’s phone for a few weeks? Are they snooping around through the files on the phone, looking for other interesting things? Is the principal harvesting student pictures for herself? Why keep the phone, instead of handing it over to the student’s parent, with a warning?
I would have to say that the Northeast High School principal, Linda M. Carroll, does not have the skills and proper judgment needed to run a high school.
A new cell phone video posted on YouTube shows the principal of a Philadelphia public school refusing to give the father of a student his daughter’s iPhone 6 back, explaining that school policy allows the school to keep his property for “weeks.”
“Now if I was in your house then you could say to me what I can’t do,” said Principal Linda M. Carroll, who won a Philadelphia principal award in 2012. “But when I’m in these bricks, you can’t tell me what I can’t do.”
In order to “meet him halfway,” Carroll tells him she will give him a flip phone to use until his property is returned to him.
