PGA Players, Media & Fans Loved St Louis – PGA Crazy Not to Return to St Louis After Record Breaking Support

St Louis ate up the 2018 PGA Championship, and still have an appetite for much more PGA golf –  and after the fan turnout and support at the 2018 PGA Championship, many people feel that the PGA would be completely crazy not to make St Louis a regular stop on the PGA Tour.

Can you imagine how huge a Ryder Cup would be in if held in St Louis? I’d dare to say it would be the biggest and most successful Ryder Cup ever!

Going by their statements, it appears that most of the PGA players who played in the 2018 PGA Championship at Bellerive also loved the atmosphere and energy brought by the huge St Louis-based crowds.

Here are some of the comments made by PGA players and media about the St Louis crowds that packed the 2018 PGA Championship in record numbers.

  • “The fans, there’s been quite a few fans this week. It’s a good sporting town, they love their sports. I don’t know how many people are actually here now, but I mean it seems to be growing every day. Even Wednesday I was talking with my caddie, I think that’s the most people we have ever seen on a Wednesday. So, I mean, and it looks like it’s even getting more packed out there.” – Brooks Koepka
  • “There’s more people here this week than I think I’ve ever seen at a major championship. I don’t know how many people have actually come through the gates, St. Louis is a great sporting town. They’re very energetic, which all of us love. I can’t tell you how many people we saw Friday, Saturday, especially when you’re making that turn, even watching it a little bit on TV, I was amazed at how many people were out here in the morning. I know there’s Tiger Woods, I get that, but it’s still impressive how many people came out.” – Brooks Koepka
  • “Everyone turned out for it. Everyone was there. Everyone is excited. I don’t see a reason why we wouldn’t come back to this area, being such good sporting fans. I think it would be great. You look at it, I think it would be perfect for a Ryder Cup.” – Brooks Koepka
  • “They have been unbelievable. Not only supportive, but just so positive. They have been supportive of all of my playing partners and myself and it’s been a pleasure to play in front of them, it really has” – Tiger Woods
  • “The people here were so positive, the energy was incredible, but the positiveness of it all. Everyone was willing every shot that everyone hit. There was no negative comments, no one was jeering, no one was making snide remarks, everyone was just very positive. They’re excited, yeah. They sometimes pick sides, yes. But they were respectful. And that’s, I wish we could play in front of crowds like this every single week because this is a true pleasure.” – Tiger Woods
  • “I can’t thank the fans in St. Louis enough for packing the course all week and for their enthusiasm and support. It meant so much to me.” – Tiger Woods
  • “7:30 this morning it was a packed house on the 10th tee. I knew they were there to watch the No. 1 player in the world mostly, but it’s really nice to see everyone really embracing the tournament. An enthusiastic crowd. There have been a lot of roars out there. It’s a fun atmosphere for us to play in.” – Adam Scott
  • “Been unbelievable. These crowds have been — Monday shocked me. And then every day it’s been fantastic. It’s been not overkill, everyone’s been I think very respectful, fantastic sports and golf fans. This is a great market to come to in St. Louis. These people love their sports, and I think it’s only going to get better over the weekend. I think this has been some of the most fun golf as far as playing in front of fans that I can remember experiencing.” – Jordan Spieth
  • “And the amount of fans that were out here yesterday was absurd. I’ve never seen anything like that on a Tuesday. So come tomorrow and the rest of this week, I’m sure it will be pretty cool” – Justin Thomas
  • “Fans and people in St Louis… y’all were unbelievable! Never heard roars like that in my life. That is what I’ve thought and dreamt major championship Sundays were like since I was a kid” – Justin Thomas
  • “It’s phenomenal. I don’t think I’ve seen so many people at a golf tournament. It has to be the most I’ve ever seen come to an event. – Charl Schwartzel

Loser Statements:

“Bland Bellerive Lacks Luster Worthy Of 100th PGA Championship.” – GOLFWEEK’s Eamon Lynch
Seriously, GOLFWEEK’s Eamon Lynch can go fuck off because he has no fucking clue.

Sure, it’s no secret that the huge 2018 PGA Championship crowds were not made up of 100% St Louisans. I personally spoke with two families that travelled from outside the United States to attend the championship. St Louis is a very centralized and very serious sports town that has the ability to pull fans from many surrounding states, which is why the crowds were as huge as the were. But those huge crowds can be duplicated at any time in golf-starved city like St Louis.
