“We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was,” Brown said in Friday morning news conference.

New York Police Commissioner Bill Bratton praised the lethal use of the robot and said the NYPD has the same technology.
“Other options would have exposed the officers to grave danger,” he said.
