So New Orleans is once again facing dearth and destruction from the latest hurricane, but who is surprised by this? Seriously? When you build cities at or below the waterline, or in flood plains, then you should EXPECT to be washed out every few years. We would hope that after a few of these “tragedies” that people would smarten up and stop building there.

So now all of us will probably have higher insurance rates because people want to keep re-building in a flood plain that has no chance whatsoever of being a permanent fixture, as it will be destroyed in the next flood – and the whole cycle of flushing billions of dollars down the toilet begins again.
