New reports from The Carolina Journal say that Eric Holder’s brother, William Holder, employs illegal immigrants at at the McDonald’s his family owns in Wake County.
The Carolina Journal is reporting Attorney General Eric Holder’s brother, William Holder, is employing illegals at the McDonald’s he and his wife own in Wake County. AG Holder visited the Knightdale location, posing for pictures with employees and patrons.
During approximately 30 visits, a reporter overheard employees mention they did not have a Social Security number, a green card, or any other document that would allow Mr. Holder to legally employ them.
Federal law requires an employer and employee to complete Form I-9 for the US Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Department of Homeland Security. A potential employee must show two documents before receiving money: identity and one proving authorization to work. The employee must sign a statement stating everything is true or else they can face fines or prison time.
Governor Bev Perdue made it law that private employers with more than 25 employees must enroll in E-Verify, a system “that matches information from I-9 forms of new hires with Social Security data.” Carolina Journal could not determine if Mr. Holder’s restaurants enrolled in the program.
North Carolina has a big illegal population. Steven Camarota, research director of the Center for Immigration Studies, told the Carolina Journal “that legal residents seeking employment ‘clearly have documents to demonstrate’ their eligibility to work.” In 2000, 70.4% residents age 18-29 with a high school diploma or less were employed. In 2010-2011 that number went down to 46%. The illegals are causing problems for legal residents to gain employment.
This information isn’t surprising. The DOJ has repeatedly come under fire for questionable practices under the Obama administration.
