Compensatory Damages: A Florida jury awarded Zachary Young $5 million in compensatory damages, which included $4 million for lost earnings (both past and future) and $1 million for pain, suffering, and mental anguish.

Punitive Damages: The trial has moved into a second phase where the jury will determine if Young should receive punitive damages. While the initial lawsuit sought $1 billion, this amount would pertain to both compensatory and punitive damages. The final amount for punitive damages has not been decided at the time of the last update on the case.

Mr. Young has already won $5 Million from CNN for compensatory damages for defamation, and now Mr. Young will be awarded more money for the punitive damages. The outcome for punitive damages could and should increase the total amount CNN owes by many millions of dollars.

Jake Tapper also provably lied, while under oath, in the defamation trial, so Tapper may be hit with perjury charges as well.

MY RPREDICTIONS: I hope Zachary Young gets as close to the full $1 Billion in total damages as possible, because CNN needs to feel the pain of their corruption, but I predict that the jury will award Mr. Young around $250-$300 million in punitive damages against CNN. I also predict that Jake Tapper will be quickly and quietly fired by CNN, and swapped-out with a more trustworthy down-the-middle type replacement.
