Baltimore Ravens & NFL Only Cares About Players Beating Up Girlfriends After Release of Ugly Video

Why was Ray Rice released from the Baltimore Ravens, and suspended by the NFL?
I know the obvious answer, but why REALLY was he released and suspended?

The Baltimore Ravens and the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell can act like they were blindsighted by this violence, but that is a lie. The Baltimore Ravens and the NFL had seen the hotel surveillance video of Rice dragging his unconscious girlfriend, Janay Palmer, out of the elevator, and it was OK with them.

Ray apparently also had a meeting with the team and the NFL where he 100% admitted that he had hit his girlfriend. Rice told the NFL basically the exact same story that the video showed, and Rice hitting Janay Palmer was still OK with them at that point.

The Baltimore Ravens and NFL would have allowed Rice to play for again after the measly 2 game suspension, if the 2nd video from inside the elevator was not released by TMZ.

It is only after the 2nd hotel surveillance video was released, which displayed the same story that Rice told the Baltimore Ravens and NFL, that the 2 game suspension was turned into a release from the team.

“It was something we saw for the first time today, all of us. It changed things, of course. It made things a little bit different” – Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh

What does it matter that they hadn’t seen the video when Rice told them the truth about what he did?

That means that the Baltimore Ravens and the NFL don’t care about domestic abuse at the hands of NFL players unless there is a video released so the public can see the crime for themselves. As far as the Baltimore Ravens and NFL goes, it seems that if there is no video, there is basically no crime, and things would have gone on as usual.

If the Baltimore Ravens or the NFL wanted to see the 2nd video from inside the elevator, they would have been able to, but as far as TMZ says, neither the Baltimore Ravens or the NFL ever actually asked to see the video. That way the Ravens and NFL can have plausible deniability, and claim that the 2nd video was “not available to them”, as they have done early and often since the 2nd video was released by TMZ.

It is shameful for the Baltimore Ravens or the NFL to act like they have done or are doing the right thing here! They have not and are not doing right for the NFL, the Baltimore Ravens, NFL fans, and NFL players girlfriends and wives.

The Baltimore Ravens and the NFL are being forced into action because of an ugly video, not because they really care that one of their players was involved in a heinous violent crime against his girlfriend. They want their stars on the field, period.

UPDATE: EA Sports will be removing Ray Rice from Madden NFL 15.
